ether.fi Cash Review (July 2026): 3% USDC Cashback, Self-Custody
Last verified: 2026-07-12 · Desk research — hands-on testing pending
ether.fi Cash pays up to 3% cashback in USDC, self-custodial, with no fixed dollar deposit required to reach the top tier — it's earned through spend and staked balances instead. At $1,000/month in the US, that's $30/month net, the full marketed 3%, since I couldn't confirm any fee that would eat into it.
What it actually pays
The 3% headline rate isn't flat — it's a marginal band. Core tier pays 3% on your first $2,000/month, then drops to 1% up to $3,000, then 0.5% beyond that. Spend $2,500 in a month and you're not earning $75 (3% of $2,500) — you're earning $2,000 × 3% + $500 × 1% = $65, an effective 2.6%.
Luxe and Pinnacle keep the 3% band going much further — $10,000/month and $50,000/month respectively — before the rate steps down, so heavier spenders land closer to the full 3%. Those tiers unlock through Club Loyalty Points, accrued from staked or Liquid vault balances plus card spend, not a flat dollar deposit — ether.fi doesn't publish an exact figure, so I'm not inventing one.
Fees
| Tier | Cashback | Annual fee | FX fee | ATM fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core | banded — see /methodology | unconfirmed | 0.5% | 2% per withdrawal, $250 max per withdrawal, max 3 attempts/24h |
| Luxe | banded — see /methodology | unconfirmed | 0.25% | 2% per withdrawal, $250 max per withdrawal, max 3 attempts/24h |
| Pinnacle | banded — see /methodology | unconfirmed | 0% | 2% per withdrawal, $250 max per withdrawal, max 3 attempts/24h |
| Business | 1% | unconfirmed | unconfirmed | unconfirmed |
The only fee ether.fi documents anywhere I could find is the ATM withdrawal fee: 2%, capped at $250 per withdrawal, 3 attempts per 24 hours. No annual, monthly, or issuance fee is published for the personal Cash card. That's genuinely unconfirmed, not confirmed-zero — I'm not assuming it's free just because I couldn't find a number.
Hands-on
I haven't ordered this card yet — this review is desk research against ether.fi's own help center and site, not first-hand testing. It gets a real hands-on section (photos, actual onboarding friction, what breaks) the day the card's in my hands.
Who it's for
Self-custody-first spenders who want stablecoin cashback with no staking requirement at the entry tier, spending under $2,000/month where the 3% band comfortably covers typical spend. If you're already staking with ether.fi, the card layers cashback on top of a wallet you're using anyway.
Who it's NOT for
Anyone chasing the full 3% at high spend without first building Club Loyalty Points — Core tier's band caps out fast, and stepping down to 0.5% past $3,000/month is a real bite out of the headline rate. If you want a flat, uncapped rate regardless of tier, look elsewhere.
Up to 15% cashback on groceries and restaurants when signing up with a referral code/link, per the live referral landing page (ether.fi/@start) — on top of/separate from standard Cash card cashback tiers; exact duration/terms of this boosted rate not stated on the landing page itself.

Disclosure: if you use this code, I'd get: 1% of every purchase your referrals make, plus a tiered Affiliate Program bonus: $10–$25 new-member/high-spender bonuses, 0.1%–0.3% of referral spend, and 20%+ physical-card commission depending on tier. Rankings above aren't affected by that either way.
The original referral program mentioned in the title above is closing — full story on what replaced it, and the real code, on the ether.fi referral code page.

FAQ
Is ether.fi Cash self-custody?
Yes. It spends against a self-custodial Safe-style account you control, not a custodial balance ether.fi holds for you.
What does ether.fi Cash pay cashback in?
USDC — a stablecoin, not a volatile token. That's why the 15% staking haircut in /methodology doesn't apply to the cashback itself here.
Do higher tiers require staking?
Luxe and Pinnacle are unlocked by Club Loyalty Points, which accrue from staked/Liquid vault balances and card spend combined — ether.fi doesn't publish a fixed dollar amount required, so I haven't put a number on it rather than guess.
Is the ether.fi referral program still open?
The original one is closing entirely on 2026-10-31 and was already restricted to accounts created before 2026-05-01 — dead if you're new. It's been replaced by an open Affiliate Program, and I'm in it now with a real, live code. See the ether.fi referral code page for what it actually pays.
What are the fees?
A 2% ATM withdrawal fee (max $250/withdrawal, 3 attempts per 24h) across all tiers, confirmed on ether.fi's help center. Annual, monthly, and issuance fees aren't documented anywhere I could find on ether.fi's own site — that's left unconfirmed rather than assumed to be $0.
